May is Drinking Water Month

The month of May is Drinking Water Month.  Drinking Water Month is meant to raise awareness about the importance and role water plays in our lives.

Many health organizations recommend people drink eight eight-ounce glasses of water each day to stay hydrated. If that sounds like a lot of drinking to you, you’re not the only one. A recent study found that Americans drink 5.5 glasses of water a day.

Furthermore, 39% of Americans say they drink tap water, while another 38% filter their tap water before drinking it. The water supply in the United States is generally safe, although naturally-occurring minerals or chemicals added to purify the water may make the taste unappealing to some people.

Drinking Water Month is sponsored by Culligan International, a world leader in water treatment. In honor of Drinking Water Month, they’re offering a free in-home water assessment to identify water characteristics, problems, and common contaminants.
